Cara 60
We were engaged by a client to convert a Cara 60” from a vessel used partly as a workboat and partly for leisure into a fully equipped explorer yacht suitable for the Mediterranean. Upon delivery, the vessel was in a deplorable condition, with the aft interior modified to include a workshop and additional tanks. We promptly undertook a comprehensive overhaul, which involved the complete removal of interiors, electrical systems, mechanical components, and some structural elements. The final result was a stunning, functional, and newly fitted three-cabin yacht. The aft workshop was transformed into two cabins, each equipped with heads and showers, providing comfortable accommodation for four persons. The forward owner’s area was extensively refurbished to match the overall quality of the yacht. A new saloon, seating area, galley, and dining room were integrated, creating an open-plan and spacious environment accessible from either end of the vessel. All electronic and mechanical services were upgraded with new installations throughout.
Bedazzled
The vessel, a Sunseeker San Remo 33, arrived with significant disrepair, necessitating extensive refurbishment. It exhibited extensive leaks both at the top and bottom, predominantly from areas with compromised seals. All engines, transom plates, electrical components, and deck fittings were removed for overhaul. The engines were subsequently sent for rebuilding, servicing, and repainting. New transom plates were procured, and the engine bay was fully painted. An updated electrical system was installed, a new bow thruster was fitted to enhance maneuverability, and new covers and upholstery were applied throughout the vessel.
Regarding the interior, the owners expressed specific requirements: “We want a Sunseeker in exterior design to retain the classic Don Shead lines but desire a completely redesigned interior, unprecedented on a retro boat of this nature.”
The interior incorporated substantial solid timber, carefully balanced to manage weight. The final result was a remarkable transformation of the original vessel, leading to considerable satisfaction among the clients, who had not anticipated such an outcome.
